Ajinkya Rahane Privileged To Play The Historic First Test Match Against Afghanistan
Ajinkya Rahane finds himself privilege to be the part of first Test match playing against Afghanistan team.
India will play against Afghanistan the first historical test match without regular captain and second-ranked Virat Kohli, but the team will have Cheteshwar Pujara (sixth), Rahane (18th) and opener Lokesh Rahul (19th) in batting along with former top-ranked spinners Ravindra Jadeja (fourth) and Ravichandran Ashwin (fifth) among bowlers.
“It’s a privilege to be playing in Afghanistan’s first Test match. It’s a historic moment for them and an opportunity for us to be part of the occasion,” Ajinkya Rahane said in an ICC release conference.
“They have a fine team and some talented players, who have proved themselves in shorter formats. I am sure they are looking forward to do the same in Test cricket. On behalf of the Indian team, I wish them all the best.” Added Ajinkya Rahane in ICC release.
Afghanistan will be looking forward to being ranked on the ICC Test Team Rankings and their rising star players to enter the individual rankings with this first one-off Test match against India.

Afghanistan will be looking more focus on Rashid Khan, and Mohammad Nabi who seem to make a significant impact in Test cricket against India. Among batsmen, Rahmat Shah is their leading player in ODIs at 32nd position.
India team will be mainly dependent on the star duo of Jadeja and Ashwin to tame Afghanistan in their debut Test match. Jadeja and Ashwin are the fourth and fifth-ranked Test bowlers of the world respectively.
